Chris Bishop: Workshop Visit

DSC_3560
I recently went by Chris Bishop’s workshop to take some pictures. I knew he was extremely busy and stressed getting everything together for NAHBS, but I also wanted to see his workshop during much productivity. A lot of his work for the bike show was still off at painters and powdercoaters (which is where most of the stress can come from) but I wasn’t interested in shooting his bikes indoors, just a small teaser of the grey one. Chris was really open to talking about the old days, what drives him crazy, what he likes, how he works, what he listens to; he really had no secrets, and nothing in his workshop was off limits to a camera. Located in the basement of his house, I wasn’t interested in showing what his space looked like, but more or less the details of how he works. I mean I have to leave something to the imagination. It was surprisingly clean, and I don’t think he cleaned it up for me since he mentioned it was kind of a mess. With all his cramming going on right now I expected an organized mess of awesomeness, but he keeps his shop in perfection to reflect the attention he puts in to his bikes. I was blown away at some of the gems sitting around especially the circa 1990 Eddy Merckx track frame sitting in bubble wrap NOS. It’s no secret his bikes are impressive, and that this year should be a big year for his name since more of his bikes are going to be raced. I look forward to showing everyone more Bishop bikes, theres something amazing about seeing a block of metal turned in to a stem, or a bunch of tubes turned in to a well ridden bike and no matter how much work it is I can only imagine whats it’s like getting a frame back from paint. Thanks for letting me bug you while you were busy…Here’s the SET
