the Courier Cross in DC

Last Sunday while Keith was woodsing it up in the woods of West Virginia we(Jeremiah, Colin, Torey, and I) took a mini road trip to wild DC for Sean‘s Courier Cross alley cat…..

We didn’t race but we hung out at freedom plaza did some tricks and filmed some of the racers going by. Colin got a few flats.  We worked on some down ledge grinds and some wacky flat stuff it was fun for sure. The time came to move on so we headed towards the race after party and tried to find some spots on the way. Nothing really caught our eye but luckily the streets and sidewalks around durkl were ripe with features. The afterparty was really chill and it was cool to see the DC scene outside of tricks, it was also fun to do some classic post race activities that I haven’t done in a long time. Jeremiah did pretty well in foot down, unlike me… and while drunk green shirt glasses guy might have been my downfall in foot down, it was his adequate announcing at the track stand comp that led me to victory. The timing couldn’t have been better for the prize give away because we all headed into the durkl shop  just as the rain hit, not a second too late.

The rain stopped and the party winded down. We headed to the back of the shop to the warehouse section where Malcom at durkl hooked it up and we took portraits for a project Sean is working on. From there the four of us along with Nick from BFFDC and Palace 5ive (and a bunch of other things), Malcom from durkl, and David from Palace 5ive rode/skated to a DIY sk8 spot under an overpass. This spot was really cool and reminded me a lot of the Hampden park, where you can move all the stuff around and some of it’s falling apart. Anyways I fell on my swellbow pretty hard and broke the 6th spoke on my rear wheel so I took it pretty easy with Jeremiah and Nick. Colin and Torey rode really well and their outfits matched too! Eventually we headed back down the alphabet to the car.  With sore butts, fresh digs, and good memories we headed back to Baltimore. So big thanks to Sean for putting everything together, Malcom at durkl for all the sweet stuff, Nick for showing us a sick spot and being cool, Torey for hanging out this weekend, all the DC racers for putting up with our “tricktarking”, drunk green shirt glasses guy for being entertaining, David for skating with us to the spot, sorry we lost ya on the way back and Lucas for coming up from RVA and riding with us.

Expect another post when Sean puts out his flicks and report, but until then check out madamchasm and Franz’s awesome flickr sets.

My spouse and i ended up being absolutely cheerful when Michael could conclude his preliminary research using the precious recommendations he made while using the web page. It is now and again perplexing just to continually be freely giving tactics which other people have been selling. We know we now have the writer to be grateful to for that. The entire illustrations you made, the straightforward site navigation, the friendships you can assist to create – it’s got most astonishing, and it is helping our son and us believe that the matter is amusing, which is very serious. Thank you for all the pieces!
