Next weekend is the swap meet out in Carroll County. This is a great place to grab a couple tires and tubes to get you though the year or if you’re looking for a new ride this summer. Check the link HERE for directions and info. Currently all vendor spots are filled…

The triple crown has come to town once again and for those that did the race may have gone between 40 and 50 miles. The check points were so far apart I could only ride to one and I think I picked the best one. There will be a video coming out of all 3 legs of the race (DC, BALT and RVA) so until I dig up links for pics from the other races, enjoy these pics from the Balt leg HERE.
This past Saturday was the first leg of the Triple Crown race which is Baltimore, DC and Richmond. It started in St. Mary’s park and ended at the bell foundry with a pig roast. My plan was to go from the start to the second check point, then move to like the fifth checkpoint then maybe one more then to the finish and get some photos. Well I went to the second and from there I couldn’t get a hold of anyone to tell me where the other check points were! At this point my chainring bolts started coming loose and I figured I should head to the finish and thats what I did. I can say it was a fun race and probably averaged around 40 miles long. The checkpoints took them to each corner of the city even through some rough areas. Check the photo set HERE.

May 25th, Starts at St. Mary’s park. I’m sure more details will pop up when it gets closer to the date but this will be a good one. Old school style alley cat thrown by bike messengers which is the way they should be!
Bike Maryland asked nicely to spread the word and I don’t see any reason not to. Here’s the deal;

Bike Maryland invites you to be a part of the May 19th RecRide/ BikeJam events in Patterson Park. The RecRide is a premier Baltimore recreational bicycle tour with a choice of 12 or 30 mile routes that are open to all age and experience levels. The events culminate in a huge celebration in Patterson Park, where guests can watch as BikeJam 2013 plays host to Pro Bicycle Championship races all afternoon long. The celebration includes live music, a beer garden, food trucks and a Heath & Bike Expo.
This past weekend was an alleycat race I wish I could have gone to. Sometimes you choose between staying in the city and going to your land deep in West Virginia and firing your ATV up for the first time this year. It was a much needed get away and I can’t wait to go back, but luckily for us that Brian O’Doherty was there to capture some stills. Check out the facebook link for more photos HERE. Let me know if that doesn’t work.
Last night was a kick off party for a new local zine and issue #1 was released. I really don’t have any links to post with it because, well it’s a zine and you just have to know about it. If you don’t know about it, now you do so keep your eyes opened.
Dan B-Race coverage
The party last night was fun and I’m sure some of Brian’s photos will pop up soon enough after hangovers start to wear down. The keg went fast and 30pks started rolling in and disappearing just as quickly. I took a couple shots not to document the night, just something to show everyone who wasn’t there.
Seth and Liam announced a Halloween race, and I’m here to pass it on. Everyone has been asking about a race and honestly we considered it knowing last year would be hard to top, so I’m glad/relieved someone stepped up to the plate. Baltimore Velo has the details and an Events page (playing some midi of children of the grave) as well as a Faceboob RSVP page.
Not doing anything tomorrow(Monday)? Down to race to DC from Baltimore? Like Red Bull? Well if so, you’re in luck because tomorrow is the last leg of the East Coast Messenger Stage Race which started in Boston and Finishes Tomorrow in DC. So even if you’re not in to racing, come to the Hampden skate park at 10 to see off the racers and get some free Red Bull. Dont forget to be in DC if you can @ Durkl HQ for the finish line and after party.
